O Distrito foi colonizado por portugueses e possui uma arquitetura colonial.<\/p>\n<h2>Pontos tur\u00edsticos e naturais<\/h2>\n<p>O Distrito de Matilde fica a 90 km de Vit\u00f3ria e est\u00e1 em uma regi\u00e3o montanhosa, o que faz com que <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gazetaonline.com.br\/tripes\/155\/tour-das-cachoeiras-em-alfredo-chaves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">o lugar tenha lindas cachoeiras<\/a>. A mais famosa \u00e9 a Cachoeira Engenheiro Reeve (&#8220;Cachoeira de Matilde&#8221;), que \u00e9 ideal tamb\u00e9m para a pr\u00e1tica de rapel.
